First Pastor: James Phillips Edwards
James Phillips Edwards was pastor of Clear Creek Baptist Church for 12 years before resigning on Christmas Day in 1830. Rev. Edwards later returned for half-time service in May of 1853, where he received $150 a year for his services. Rev. Edwards lived to be 75 years old and passed away in Kentucky in 1857. With his part-time service, he continues to hold the title of longest-serving pastor. Although Pastor Joe Aldridge served 12 consecutive years from 1998-2010.

​Mr. L.O. Karraker and family, Dr. A. J. Lyerla, Mr. Henry G. Hileman, and David Clengingsmith were members in recent years who took on the role of prominent leaders and workers within our church.​​​
Officiates During the Constitution of the Church
Revs. James P. Edwards and J. P. Greer were officiating ministers at the constitution of the Church on December 25th, 1818.​​​​
​Notable Pastor: Rev. D. L. Phillips
Rev. D. L. Phillips served the church as pastor from 1851 to 1853. Rev. Phillips was an attorney-at-law and was an agent for the Illinois Central Railroad. Rev. Phillips was serving as an agent when Abraham Lincoln arrived in Jonesboro for the Lincoln-Douglas debate. Rev. Phillips had the honor to meet Mr. Lincoln at the train and was tasked with entertaining and introducing him at the debate.
Notable Member: Christian G. Flaugh
In 1847, at the age of 26, Christian Flaugh was converted and joined Clear Creek Church. A month after he joined, he gained the role of church clerk. Mr. Flaugh held his position as clerk for 38 years until he resigned in 1886. Mr. Flaugh was also well known within the community. He operated the largest watermill and tannery in the county, the stone quarry, and a shoe shop. His residence and 11 other buildings were located two miles south of Jonesboro and were known as Flaughtown.
